History of earth ( seven layers ) |
Seven Layers of the Earth:
It is stated in the Quran that :"ALLAH is the who created the seven skies (higher levels) and of the earth (seven lower levels) similar to those (of the skies)" (ch.65, v.12)
In this connection it is worth nothing that the body of our planet consists of a number of concentric shells of different materials arranged in order of increasing density with depth. There are similar concentric shells in the atmosphere above the surface of the earth but associated with the earth. The troposphere, which contains oxygen in a proportion suitable to sustain life on earth and clouds, which gives rain to the earth for the provision of food, is in direct contact with the crust on which we live and from which we derive direct benefits. If troposphere and the crust, with which we are in direct contact are clubbed as one single layer, then we have the following seven concentric layers which may be the seven layers referred to in the verse cited above.
7. Exosphere Higher than 500 Km.
6. Thermosphere 500 Km to 85 Km.
5. Mesosphere 58 Km to 50 Km.
4. Stratosphere 50 Km to 17 Km
3. Troposphere-Crust 17 Km to sea level about 40 Km deep
2. Mantle about 3000 Km deep
1. Core about 3400 Km deep
Gravitation :
The atmosphere, the clouds and all that is there on the surface of the earth, travel with it in space and are held together by the force of gravitation which is also confirmed by Quran in the following terms"Did We not make the earth, one that draws together to itself the living and the dead?" (ch.77 v.25-
25)
