Story of Hazrat Umair Radiallaho Anho |
Umair goes to Battle:
Umair (Radhiallaho anho) was a slave of Abillahm (Radhiallaho anho) and of very tender age. Every soul in those days, Irrespective of age, was eager to strive in the path of ALLAH. Umair (Radhiallaho anho requested the Prophet(PBUH) to permit him to fight in the Khaiber. His master also recommended him very strongly. The Prophet (PBUH) permitted him and gave him a sword which Umair(R.A) hung round his neck. Now the sword was too big for his size and he had to drag it with him. He fought in the battle till it ended in victory. As he was minor and a slave he was entitled to any share in the booty. The Prophet (PBUH), however, alloted him a share as a very special case.Although Umair (R.A) knew that he was not going to get any share from the spoils of war yet he was so eager to fight in the battle. What could be his motive other than the reward of the hereafter as promised by ALLAH and reported by the Prophet (PBUH).
Umair-Bin-Abiwaqae hides himself:
Umair-bin-Abiwaqae (R.A) was a sahabi of tender age who had embraced Islam in its early days. He was a brother of saad-bin-Abiwaqas (R.A) the famous Muslim general, Saad(R.A) narrates:"At the time when we were preparing to march for Badr I noticed Umair (R.A) trying somehow to hide himself. This surprised me. I said to him, ' what has happened to you ? What makes you hide like this ?' He replied, 'I am afraid the Prophet(PBUH) may not stop me from taking part in the battle on account of my young age, though, I am yearning to go and get martyred in th path of ALLAH."Umair's fear proved too true. The Prophet (PBUH) detected him and then stopped him from going with the army. Umair could not bear this and began to cry. When the Prophet(PBUH) was informed of this eagerness and disappointement he permitted him to go. He fought in the battle till he was killed.
Saad (R.A) his brother says:
"The sword of umair (R.A) was too big for his size. I had to put a number o number
of knots in the belt so that it might not touch the ground."
