Sahabah Stories Hazrat Omar (R-A)

Hazrat Omar Story
Story of Hazrat Omar  Radiallaho anho

None can deny the proverbial valour, courage and strength of Omar(R-A) over whose mention even after the lapse of 1300 years hearts are struck with awe and respect. Islam could not be professed and preached openly before Omar coming into its fold. As soon as he embraced Islam the Muslims started saying Salat in Haram as none could dare haram them with Omar on their side. Notwithstanding all this he could not stand the shock of the Prophet's death. So much so that he stood with sword in his hand utterly confused and bewildered saying:
"I shall cut the head of a person who says, 'The Prophet is dead.' The Prophet has only gone to visit his Lord just as Moosa (alaihis salam) had gone to toor. He will shortly return and cut off the hands and feet of those who were spreading the false news of his death."
On the other hand Usman(R-A) was stunned with grief at the Prophet's death. He could not utter a single word even till the next day and walked about as if bereft of speech. Ali (R-A) too was in terrible grief. He was still and motionless. Only Abu Bakr for all his love of the Prophet (PBUH) as we have seen in the last Post stood firm like a rock against the terrible storm of grief and did not lose his mental composure. He calmly entered the Prophet's house, kissed his forehead and came back to the people. He said :
"Whose worshipped Muhammad  (PBUH) let him know that Muhammad is no more and whose worshipped ALLAH should know that ALLAH is everliving and Eternal. He then recited the following verse of the Quran..."
"Muhammad is but a messenger, messengers (the like of who) have passed away before him. Will it be that when he dies or is slain Ye will turn back on your heels. He who turneth back doth not hurt ALLAH and ALLAH will reward the thankful." (III : 144)
As Abu Bakr (R-A) was distined to be the Khalifah after the Prophet it is significant that unlike other Sahabah he behaved with the composure and patience that were needed at an occasion like this. Again, it was Abu Bakr (R-A) alone who knew better than anybody else about the regulations regarding the burial, inheritance, e.t.c., of the Prophet(PBUH. When difference of opinion arose among Sahabah whether the burial place of the Prophet be at Mecca or Madinah or jerusalam, It was abu bakr (R-A) who settled the difference by declaring on the authority of the Prophet (PBUH) that the Prophets are buried where they have died. There were several other Hadiths only known to Abu Bakr that helped solve many of the other problems arising out of the death of the Prophet Some of these Hadiths were :

  1. "Prophet have no heirs. All that a Prophet bequeathes is Sadaqah."
  2. "ALLAH'S curse is on the Amir who does not take proper interest and exercise proper care in the appointement of his deputies."
  3. "The state affairs shall remain the custody of Quresh."

Sahabah Story Umair goes to battle

Hazrat Umair's Story
Story of Hazrat Umair Radiallaho Anho

Umair goes to Battle:

Umair (Radhiallaho anho) was a slave of Abillahm (Radhiallaho anho) and of very tender age. Every soul in those days, Irrespective of age, was eager to strive in the path of ALLAH. Umair (Radhiallaho anho requested the Prophet(PBUH) to permit him to fight in the Khaiber. His master also recommended him very strongly. The Prophet (PBUH) permitted him and gave him a sword which Umair(R.A) hung round his neck. Now the sword was too big for his size and he had to drag it with him. He fought in the battle till it ended in victory. As he was minor and a slave he was entitled to any share in the booty. The Prophet (PBUH), however, alloted him a share as a very special case.
Although Umair (R.A) knew that he was not going to get any share from the spoils of war yet he was so eager to fight in the battle. What could be his motive other than the reward of the hereafter as promised by ALLAH and reported by the Prophet (PBUH).

Umair-Bin-Abiwaqae hides himself:

Umair-bin-Abiwaqae (R.A) was a sahabi of tender age who had embraced Islam in its early days. He was a brother of saad-bin-Abiwaqas (R.A) the famous Muslim general, Saad(R.A) narrates:
"At the time when we were preparing to march for Badr I noticed Umair (R.A) trying somehow to hide himself. This surprised me. I said to him, ' what has happened to you ? What makes you hide like this ?' He replied, 'I am afraid the Prophet(PBUH) may not stop me from taking part in the battle on account of my young age, though, I am yearning to go and get martyred in th path of ALLAH."
Umair's fear proved too true. The Prophet (PBUH) detected him and then stopped him from going with the army. Umair could not bear this and began to cry. When the Prophet(PBUH) was informed of this eagerness and disappointement he permitted him to go. He fought in the battle till he was killed.

Saad (R.A) his brother says:

"The sword of umair (R.A) was too big for his size. I had to put a number o number

Sahabah Stories Sympathy and Self-Sacrifice

Sahabah Sympathy Self-Sacrifice
Muslims Faith

Sympathy and Self-Sacrifice :

The Sahabah, as a class, were an embodiment of righteousness. They attained a standard which is rather difficult to emulate in a corrupt society. we would be fortunate if we really attain even a partial resemblance to their chracter. Some of the qualities are especially their own, and self-sacrifice is one of these. ALLAH has made a mention of this in the Holy Quran in these words.
"They prefer others above themselves though poverty be-come their lot. LIX : 9."

Feeding in the Darkness :

One came to the prophet (PBUH) and complained of hunger. Just then the prophet (PBUH) had nothing in hand or in his home, to feed him. He asked the Sahabah:
"Would anybody entertain this person tonight on my behalf ?"
One of the Ansar said :
"O, Prophet of ALLAH, I will do that."
The Ansari took the person to his house and instructed his wife :
"Look here, this man is a guest of the Prophet (PBUH). We will entertain him as best as we can and won't spare anything in doing so."
The wife replied : "By ALLAH ! I have get no food in the house except a very little something just enough for the children."
The Ansari said : "You lull the children to sleep without feeding them, while I sit with the guest over the meagre meal. When we start eating, you put out the lamp pretending to set it right, so that the guest may not know my not sharing the meal with him."

The scheme worked out nicely, and the whole family including the children stayed hungry to enable the guest to eat to his fill. It was over this incident that ALLAH revealed the verse:
" They prefer others above themselves though poverty become their lot (LIX:9)."

There are quite a lot of similar incidents about the Sahabah. The following is one of these.

Feeding a fasting sahabi :

One of the Sahabah was keeping fast after fast, as he could not get anything to eat. Thabit (Radhiallaho anho) came to know of this. He told his wife
"I shall bring a guest tonight. When we sit at the meal, you put out the lamp pretending to set it right, and you are not to eat anything until the guest has taken his fill."

Sahabah Stories Campaign of Hudeybiah

Place of Hudeybiah
Hudeybiah were Campaign started

The campaign of Hudeybiyah took place in 6 A.H. When the Prophet (PBUH) with the large number of Sahabah was going to Mecca with the intention of Umrah. The Qureysh came to know of this and decided to prevent his entry into Mecca. As also decided they they invited the neghibouring tribes of Mecca for help and made large scale prepartions for battle. When the Prophet reached Zulhulaifah he sent a man to bring intelligence about Qureysh. When the Prophet (PBUH) reached Asfan the person returned from Mecca with the information that Qureysh were equipped to the teeth to resist the Prophet's entry into Mecca and that the neghibouring tribes also were by their side. At this the Prophet called the eminent Sahabah in counsel to consider the situation. One proposal was to attack the houses of the tribes who had sent their man to help Qureysh (So that they might leave Qureysh to protect their own homes) and the other was to march straight towards Mecca. Abu Bakr (R-A) said :
"O Prophet of ALLAH ! We have come to perform Umrah. We have no intention of fighting with the Qureysh. Let's go ahead. If they stop us we shall fight, otherwise not."
The Prophet (PBUH) agreed to the proposal of Abu Bakr and decided to march ahead towards Mecca. When he reached Hudeybiyah, Budail-bin-Warqa Khusai met him with a group of people. He said :
"The Qureysh under no circumstances will permit your entry into Mecca. They are already drawn up in a battle array"
At this the Prophet (PBUH) replied :
"We have come to perform Umrah only and have no intention to fight. Frequent battles have already inflicted heavy casualties on Qureysh. If, therefore, they agree, I am prepared to talk for a no-war pact with them so that they do not fight with me and I do not f ight with them. If, however, Qureysh do not see their way to accepting this proposal them by Him who holds my life in His hand, I will fight them till at last either Islam prevails or I am slain."
Budail returned to Qureysh and conveyed to them what the Prophet had told him. But they do not agree with the peace proposal of the Prophet (PBUH). Parleys between the two sides however continued and at one time Urwah-bin-Masood Thaqfi was sent by Qureysh as a plenipotentiary. Urwah had not then accepted Islam. The Prophet (PBUH) talked to him in the same strain as he had done to Budail. Urwah said:
"O Muhammad (PBUH) ! If you want to stay all the Arabs you cannot possibly do so as none before you has ever succeeded in putting an end to all the Arabs. On the coutrary if the Arabs get the upper hand then take from me that these persons round you will disappear in no time leaving you all alone for i don't find any people of high birth among them. In fact they all come from a low stock drawn from all corners."
Abu Bakr standing close by was infuriated at this outburst and resentfully told Urwah:
"Go and faun upon your goddess Lat! we can by no means flee away and leave the Prophet (PBUH) by himself."
Urwah :     "Who is he ?"
The Prophet (PBUH) :     "He is Abu Bakr."
Urwah :     "Abu Bakr I am indebted to you for a good turn you have done to me in the past, but for this I would have replied to your abuse."

Urwah then resumed his deliberations with the Prophrt (PBUH) Urwah occasionally touched the beared oof the Prophet (according to the Arab custom) as he talked. Sahabah could not tolerate this. Accordingly, Urwah's own nephew Mughairah-bin-Shaabah (R-A) who was standing near by struck Urwah's hand with the handle of his sword and said:
"Keep your hand away"

Urwah :     "Who is he ?"
The Prophet (PBUH) :     "He is Mughirah."
Urwah : "O, you aggressor ! How dare you maltreat your uncle who is still suffering for your aggression."

(Before Islam Mughirah, Radhiallaho anho, had killed a few persons. Urwah paid the blood money on his behalf. He was referring to this incident.) During his long discourse with the Prophet(PBUH) Urwah had been quietly observing the behaviour of Sahabah towards their master so when he returned to Qureysh he said to them:

Sahabah Story OverPayement of ZAKAAT

Sahabi overpaying zakat
Sahabah over paying Zakat

OverPayement of Zakat :

Ubai-bin-Kaab (Radhiallaho anho) says:

"The Prophet(PBUH) once deputd me to collect Zakat dues from a locality. I went to a person there, and asked about the details of his possessions. A baby camel one year old was due from him in Zakat. When he heared of it, he exclaimed,'Of what use is a baby camel one year old ? You can neither milk it, nor ride it. Here is a fine grown-up she-camel. You had better take this instead.' I replied,'My commission does not permit me to take more than what is actually due from you. I, therefore, cannot accept what you offer. The Prophet(PBUH) is visiting this locality, and tonighy he will be campng at a place not very far from here. You had better ga and place your offer before him. If he does not object. I would gladly accept your offer, otherwise you shall have to give me exactly what is due from you.' Thereupon I took the she-camel to the Prophet (PBUH) and besought him thus: 'O,Prophet of ALLAH ! Your deputy came to receive Zakat from me. By ALLAH ! before this time I have never had the honour of paying anything to the Prophet (PBUH) or his deputy. I therefore placed everything that i possessed before him. He decided that a baby  camel one year old was due from me. Now, O Prophet of ALLAH ! This baby camel is of no use. It can neither yield milk nor carry load, I, therefore refused him to accept a fine grown-up she-camel in-stead, Which he refused to accept without your permission, I have now come to you with the she-camel. The Prophet (PBUH) observed,'No doubt only that much is due from you which he has worked out, but if you are willing to give more than that of your own accord, it would be accepted.' I then presented the she-camel to the Prophet (PBUH) which he accordingly accepted and sought ALLAH'S blessings for the donor."

Look, with what magnanimity of heart the Sahabah parted with their best things for the sake of ALLAH. On the other hand, we too claim to be the true followers of Islam and ardent devotees of the Prophet(PBUH) but leaving apart the bestowing of alms in general to the poor and the needy, we are most reluctant to pay the actual abligatory dues. Zakaat as a pillar of Islam, is not even known to our upper classes. Of the middle only the religiously conscious strata keep up a form of paying  Zakaat, in as much that even the expenditure incurred on their own relative and acquaintances, and all other charitable donations squeezed out of them by the force of

Hazrat Aisha's Zeal for Knowledge

Hazrat Aishah Zeal for Knowledge

Aisha's Zeal for Knowledge:

Aisha(Radhiallaho anho) was given in Nikah when she was six. She started living with the prophet (PBUH) when she was nine. She was also 18 at the time of the prophet's death. Notwithstanding her age she is responsible for innumerable Hadiths and regulations of Islamic practices. Masrooq (Rehmatullah alaihi) says :
"I saw many eminent Sahabah coming to Aisha (Radhiallaho anho) for seeking knowledge about Islamic jurisprudence."
Ata (Rehmatullah alaihi) says:
"Aisha (Radhiallaho anha) was more learned than any of the men of her time."
Abu Moosa (Radhiallah anho) says:
"With the help of Aisha (Radhiallaho anha) a solution was found to each and every problem we had to face in the field of jurisprudence."
The books of Hadith contain as many as 2,210 Hadiths narrated by Aisha (Radhiallaho anha) she says:
"I was a child and playing with my playmates in Mecca when the verse (Nay, but the Hour is their appointed tryst, and the hour will be more wretched and more bitter---LIV:46) was revealed to the Prophet(PBUH)."
Now she emigrated to Madinah when she was only eight. She should have been much younger at the revelation of this early Mecca n verse. This clearly shows her great zeal and devotion for

History of Earth ( Seven layers of Earth )

History of Earth ( Seven layers of Earth )
History of earth ( seven layers )

Seven Layers of the Earth:

It is stated in the Quran that :
"ALLAH is the who created the seven skies (higher levels) and of the earth (seven lower levels) similar to those (of the skies)" (ch.65, v.12)
In this connection it is worth nothing that the body of our planet consists of a number of concentric shells of different materials arranged in order of increasing density with depth. There are similar concentric shells in the atmosphere above the surface of the earth but associated with the earth. The troposphere, which contains oxygen in a proportion suitable to sustain life on earth and clouds, which gives rain to the earth for the provision of food, is in direct contact with the crust on which we live and from which we derive direct benefits. If troposphere and the crust, with which we are in direct contact are clubbed as one single layer, then we have the following seven concentric layers which may be the seven layers referred to in the verse cited above.
7. Exosphere                              Higher than 500 Km.
6. Thermosphere                        500 Km to 85 Km.
5. Mesosphere                             58 Km to 50 Km.
4. Stratosphere                            50 Km to 17 Km
3. Troposphere-Crust                  17 Km to sea level about 40 Km deep
2. Mantle                                     about 3000 Km deep
1. Core                                        about 3400 Km deep

Gravitation :

The atmosphere, the clouds and all that is there on the surface of the earth, travel with it in space and are held together by the force of gravitation which is also confirmed by Quran in the following terms
"Did We not make the earth, one that draws together to itself the living and the dead?" (ch.77 v.25-

Ladies in Khaibar Campaign

Khaibar Campaign in urdu
Ladies in Khabar Campaign

Ladies in Khaibar Campaign:

Shoulder to shoulder with their menfolk the ladies of those time, imbued with the same spirit of sacrifice, were striving heart and soul in the path of ALLAH and no service in this connection was too much for them.

Ummu Zyad (Radhiallaho anha) says:

In the Khaibar campaign I along with other five women reached the battle-field. The prophet(PBUH) having learnt this sent for us. He said with anger, ‘Who permitted you ti come over here ?  Who brought you to this place ?’ We said, ‘O, Prophet of ALLAH ! we knpw knitting and we have some medicines with us. We shall help the Mujahidin by supplying them with arrows, by attending them when they are sick and by preparing food for them.’ The Prophet(PBUH) permitted us to stay.”
The Ladies of that time were blessed with the spirit which even the men of our time do not possess. Look at the courage of these woman who reached the battle-field of their own accord and who offered to attend to different jobs in the field. Ummu Salim ( Radhiallaho anha ) joined the Huneyn Campaign in the state of pregnancy. She kept a dagger on her person. The Prophet (PBUH) inquired:
“What is this Dagger for, O, Ummu Salim ?”
She replied: “I shall run it through the belly of an kafir approaching me.”
She had also taken part in the Uhud Wherein she tended the wounds of the fighting men.

Ladies Spirit and Fear of ALLAH ( Aisha R-A)

Hazrat Aishah & Ibn-Zubair
Hazrat Aishah Gets Angry with his nephew Hazrat Ibn-Zubair

Aisha gets angry with Ibn-Zubair :

Abdullah-bin-Zubair was Aisha's nephew. He was very dear to her as she had brought him up. He did not like her spending so much in charity while she herself lived in want and poverty. He mentioned this to somebody and said :
"I must  stop her from doing that"

She learnt about it and was so much upset that she swore not to speak with Abdullah for the rest of her life. Abdullah-bin-Zubair (Radhiallaho anho) was very much shocked by her oath. He disputed many people to speak to her for him but she told them, "I have taken an oath and I am not prepared to violate it." He, at least took two persons from the family of the prophet's mother to her house to intercede for him. Aisha (R-A) allowed the persons to enter the house and to speak to her from behind a curtain. Ibn Zubair (Radhiallaho anho) also stealthily got in with the persons. When the persons started talking, he could not control himself aand crossed the curtain and fell at the feet of her aunt and entreating her for pardon. The two persons also interceded and reminded her of the Prophet's forbidding a Muslim from discarding speech with another Muslim. When she heard this hadith she got Scared of ALLAH's displeasure and the result thereof and began to weep very bitterly. She forgave zubair and began to speak with him. She was then liberating slave after slave in expiation of her oath till 40 slaves had been set free by her. Even later on whenever she thought of the violation of her oath, she wept so much that her shawl would become wet with her tears.
How much do we worry for the oaths we take from morning till evening? It is for everyone to examine his own self and answer. Come and see the people who had real reverence for ALLAH and his name, how much did they feel when they were unable to fulfill an oath. We see

Islam a Realistic Religion

Islam realistic Religion
Islam and Humanity ( Islam a realistic Religion )

Islam, as it has been declared by the Holy Quran, is the perfect religion and in fact the completion of the Lord's favor upon man so far as the regulation of his life is concerned.
" This day i have perfected your religion for you, completed. My favors upon you and have chosen for you Al-Islam as your religion. "   (5 : 4)
This verse eloquently speaks of the fact that favors of Allah in the form of Din (code of life) have been perfected in Al-Islam and nothing that is not rooted in it, whether in the form of belief or in the form of individual and social behavior is acceptable to Allah a religion as self-contained and realistic as Islam is, must provide answers to all spiritual and secular questions and should offer to humanity not only a new metaphysical outlook, but comprehensive program of revolution in human life both in its individual and social aspects.

Basic Concept Of Religion :

Let us start with the very basic concept of religion. To a non-Muslim nurtured on a concept of religion, it is only a private relationship between man and his creator. But for a Muslim religion comprehends the whole of life its pattern of thought and behavior. It posits the ideal of life in which, from the cradle to the grave, not a single moments is spent out of turn with or mere unprovided for by a religion ruling. No sphere is left in which the thought and deeds of a Muslims both in his personal and public life are inconsequential for his fate in the hereafter. In short in Islam one cannot find a no man's land to which religion does not lay a claim. That is the reason why Allah exhorts people to accept Islam in its entirety :

Ladies Devotion ( Aisha Radhiallaho Anho )

Sayings Hazrat Aisha
Hazrat Aishah Sayings

Don’t be sorry now. If you had told me at that time I would have perhaps given you one darham.Once Aisha ( Radhiallaho Anho ) received a gift of two bags containing 1,00,000 darhams. She started distributing these among the poor till by the evening not a single darham was left with her. She was keeping fast that day. Her maid servant brought her a loaf of bread and a little olive oil for Iftar and remarked.’ I wish we had kept one darham for ourselves to get some meat for Iftar’. Aisha said:
Gifts of this nature were often reveived by aisha (R-A) from Amir Muawiah, Abdullah-bin-Zubair and others for that was the time of ease and plenty for the Muslims as territory after territory was falling in their hands. In spite of this abundance, Aisha (R-A) led a life of abstention. Look! She distributes 1,00,000 darhams to the poor but she does not remember to get some meat for her own Iftar. In our own atmosphere such stories seem to be impossible but to the people who have understand Sahabah’s frame of mind hundreds of such incidents are quite credible. There are many stories of this nature reported about Aisha (R-A). Once she was fasting and had nothing for her Iftar except one piece of bread. A poor man came and begged for some food. She asked her maid to give him that piece. The maid said:
If I give him the piece of bread, there will be nothing left for your Iftar.”

Why blend Religion and Science

Islam and Science
Why blend Religion and Science

In view of the later post of this Label Human knowledge can be divided into two categories:
  1. Knowledge communicated by God to man through holy Prophets, which deals with man in articular and the universe in general - referred to as RELIGION.
  2. Knowledge acquired by man through his own inquiry, observation and experimental efforts which deals with the whole universe including himself - referred to as SCIENCE.
Verses of the Quran cited below prove that human knowledge, whether religious or scientific, directly or indirectly owes its origin to God and is an insignificant part of divine Knowledge. Observation, memory, intelligence, expression, in short all human faculties are gifts of God to man and no man and no human being could have acquired even a speck from Divine knowledge, without these faculties and without God's will, as evident from the following verses of the Quran:
"He (ALLAH) knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot comprehend anything out of His knowledge except that which He pleases ."(Surah AL-BAQRAH v.255)
"And none can inform you like the One who is aware."(Surah AL-FAATAR v.4)
"Who (ALLAH) thaught (to write) with the pen, taught men what he knew not."(Surah AL-ALQ v.4-5)
An inquiry into the aims and effects of these two great institutions of religion and science, reveals that both aim at human welfare, former concentrating on spiritual comforts and the latter on material, but in effect, both are major causes of human disasters. The fact that institutions having such a noble aim are in effect so destructive is not so surprising when we consider the causes. In the field of religion man neither believes in nor obeys the constitution of God and in the field of science he misuses knowledge, which again is due to lack of faith in religion. This is an age of science and man has developed so intense a faith in science that he retains what science approves and discards what science disproves  The science conscious world

Abu Bakar and the Fear of ALLAH

Sayings Hazrat AbuBakr
Hazrat Abu Bakar and His Fear for ALLAH

According to our belief Abu Bakar (R.A) is the most exalted person after the prophets (may peace be on all of them) The Prophet (PBUH) himself conveyed to him the glad tiding of his being the head of a group of noble persons in paradise. The prophet (S.A.W) once remarked :
" Abu Bakar name shall be called out from all the gates of paradise and he will be the first of my followers to enter it. "
With all these virtues and privileges, Abu Bakar used to say :
" I wish  I were a tree that would be cut and done with. "

Some times he would say :
" I wish I were a blade of grass whose a hair on the body of a Muslims. "

He  also said :
" I wish I were a hair on the body of a Momin. "

Once he went to a garden where he saw a bird singing. He sighed deeply and said :
" O, bird ! How lucky you are ! You eat, you drink and fly under the shade of the tress and you fear no reckoning of the day of judgement. I wish I were just like you.

Steadfastness against hardships Omar (R.A)

Sahabah facining hardships
Facing Problems and hardships ( Omar R.A )
Omar (R.A) later on the pride of Muslims and the dread of the disbelievers was most adamant in opposing the prophet (S.A.W), and very prominent in persecuting the Muslims before he embraced Islam. One day the Qureysh in a meeting called for somebody to volunteer himself for the assassination of the prophet (S.A.W). Omar offered himself for this job at which everybody exclaimed :
" Whither ! Omar !"
Omar :
" I am after finishing Muhammad."
saad :
" But don't you see Banu Hashim, Banu Zuhrah and Banu Abdi Manaf are likely to kill you in retaliation? "
Omar (upset at the warning) :
" It seems that have also renounced the religion of your forefathers. Let  me settle with you first. "
So saying Omar drew out his sword. Saad, announcing his Islam, also took out his sword. they were about to start a dual when saad said :
" You had better first set your own house in order. Your sister and brother-in-law both have  accepted Islam."
Hearing this Omar flew into a towering rage and turned his step towards his sister's house. The door of the house was bolted  from inside and husband and wife were receiving lessons in Quran from Khabbab (R.A). Omar knocked at the door and shouted for his sister to open it. Khabbab hearing the voice of Omar his himself in some inner room forgetting to take the leaves of the Holy Quran with him. When the sister opened the door, Omar hit her on the head saying :
" O, enemy of yourself. You too have renounced your religion. "
Her head began to bleed. He then went inside and inquired,
" what were you doing ? And who who was the stranger I heard from outside ?"
His brother-in-law relied :
" Have you also forsaken the creed of your forefathers and gone over to the new religion ?"

Steadfastness against hardships ( Hazrat Bilal )

Story of Hazrat Bilal
Hazrat Bilal facing hardships

Hazrat Bilal:

Bilal (R.A) is one of the best known of the galaxy of Sahabah as moazan of the prophet's Mosque. He was an Abyssinian slave of a disbeliever in Mecca. His conversion to Islam was, naturally, not liked by his master and he was, therefore, persecuted mercilessly. Umayyah bin Khalef, who was the worst enemy of Islam, would make him lie down on the burning send at mid-day and would place a heavy stone on his breast so that he could not even move a limb. He would then say to could not even move a limb. He would then say to him :
"Renounce Islam, or swelter and die in this state."
Even under these afflictions Bilal would exclaim:
"Ahad"-The One (Allah) . . "Ahad" The One (Allah).

He was lashed at night and with the cuts thus received was made to lie on the burning ground during the day to make him either forsake Islam or to die a lingering death from septic wounds. The tortures would get tired and have turns(Abu jahl, Umayyah and others) and they would vie one with another in afflicting more and more painful punishment, but Bilal would not yield. At last Abu pakar bought his freedom and he became a free Muslims.
As Islam taught implicitly the oneness of the Almighty creator, while the idolaters of Mecca believed in many gods and goddesses with minor god-lings, therefor Bilal repeated :
"Ahad (THE One), Ahad (The One)."
This shows his love and devotion to Allah. Allah was so dear to him that no amount of persecution could distract him from reciting His Holy name. It is said that the urchins of Mecca would drag him in the streets with the words "Ahad !" "Ahad !" ringing in their wake.
Look how Allah rewarded his steadfastness ! He was to have the honor of becoming the prophet's Maazzin. He was always to remain with him at home and abroad, to call out the Azan for his Salat. After the prophet's death it became very hard for him to continue his stay in. Madina where he would miss him at every step and in every corner. He therefore left Madina and decided to pass the rest of his life striving in the path of Allah. Once he beheld the prophet (S.A.W) in his dream saying to him :
"O, Bilal ! How is it that you never visit me."

Taif in old times
Prophet (PBUH) Journey to taif PLACE TAIF IN OLDER TIMES
It is really very hard for the Muslims of to-day to imagine, and much less to endure or even to attempt to endure, the hardships which were borne by the Holy prophet(PBUH) and the illustrious companions of is the path of ALLAH. The books of history are full of stories of their sufferings. It is a pity that are so indifferent to those events and our knowledge is so poor in this regard. I open this chapter with a story about the Prophet(PBUH) himself to get the blessings of ALLAH which are sure to attend his auspicious mention.

The Prophet (PBUH) journey to Taif :

For nine years, since his selection by ALLAH for his mission the Prophet (PBUH) had been delivering the message of ALLAH in Mecca and making all-out-efforts to guide and reform his community. Excepting a few persons who had either embraced Islam or who helped him though not accepting his creed, all the rest in Mecca left no stone upturned in persecuting and deriding him and his followers. His uncle Abu Talib was one of those good-heart people who helped him in spite of their not entering into the fold of Islam.
The following year, on the death of Abu Talib, the Qureysh got a free hand and therefore accelerated their sinister pursuits without check and hindrance. At Taif, the second biggest town of Hijaz there lived Banu Thaqif-a clan strong in number. The prophet(PBUH) left for Taif with the hope of winning them over to Islam, thus providing quarters for Muslims from the persecution of the Qureysh, and also establishing a base for the future propagation of Islam. On reaching Taif he visited the three chieftains of the clan separately, and placed before each of them the message of ALLAH, and called upon him to stand by his (Prophet's) side. Instead of accepting his message they refused even to listen to him, and not with standing the proverbial Arab hospitality each of them treated him most contemptuously and rudely. They plainly told him that they did not like his stay in their town. The Prophet (PBUH) has expected a civil, even a cordial treatment and due courtesy in speech from them as they were the heads of the clan, but one of them sneered:
"Hey, ALLAH has made you a Prophet !"

Economic system of Islam

Islam Economic system
The Economic system of Islam
The basic economic concept in Islam is that absolute ownership of everything belongs to God alone. Man is God's vicegerent on earth. God has subjected to man's service whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth;..... In this surely are signs for a people who reflect. This has reference to man as such, to the whole of mankind and not to a particular individual or group.
" Allah is he who has appointed you (mankind) his vicegerents on earth. Know then, that he who fails to recognize this dignity and to act in accordance therewith shall be answerable for his neglect and will himself suffer loss and also incur the displeasure of his lord.    (35 : 40) "
Legal ownership by the individual, that is to say, the right of possession, enjoyment, and transfer of property, is recognized and safeguard in Islam, but all ownership is, as we have seen, subject to the moral obligation that in all wealth all sections of society, and even animals, have a right to share. Part of this obligation is given legal form and is made effective through legal sanctions, but the greater part is secured by voluntary  effort put forth through a desire to achieve the highest moral and spiritual benefit for all concerned. In fact, this supplementing of legal obligations to be discharged through voluntary effort runs through every part of the  Islamic system. Its operation can be observant every sphere. For instance, there are the obligatory prayer services , and supererogatory prayers, and prayer and remembrance of God at all other times. There is the obligatory fast during the month of Ramadan and supererogatory fasts at other times. There is the obligation upon those who can afford it to perform the pilgrimage itself may be repeated as often as a person desires. The same principle holds in the economic sphere.

Love and Devotion for the Prophet

Love for Prophet(PBUH)
Sahabah's Love for Prophet ( PBUH )

What we have hitherto read about the wonders done by Sahabah in their time was in fact the result of their love for ALLAH Hand for his Prophet(PBUH). Love, as a matter of fact, was very great dynamic for in Sahab's career. It was this force which had made them forego their luxuries, forget their lives, give up all their desires for wealth, ignore all afflictions and have no fear of death even. There is no room for any other consideration (except that of beloved) in the heart saturated with love.May ALLAH through His Grace grant us His own love and that of His Prophet (PBUH) so that we may be blessed with comfort while in His worship and consolation while in his service. Ameen.
In the beginning those who embraced Islam had to keep their faith secret, as for as possible. As the Muslims were being constantly persecuted by Qureysh even the prophet (PBUH) had advised all new converts to practice Islam secretly so that they might not have to suffer at the hands of Qureysh. When however, the number of Muslims reached 39, Abu Bakr (Radhiallaho anho) made a suggestion for the open preaching and practicing of Islam. The prophet(PBUH) would not agree but when Abu Bakr(Radhiallaho anho) insisted persistently he gave his consent and so all of them went to Haram for Tabligh. Abu Bakr (Radhiallaho anho) was asked to speak and the khutbah given by him was the first ever delivered in the annals of Islam. Hamzah (Radhillaho anho) the Prophet's uncle and the Chief Martyr embraced Islam on that very day while Umar (Radhiallaho anho) came into the Muslim fold on the third day of this address. No sooner did abu Bakr (Radhiallaho anho) start speaking than the idolators and disbelievers from amongst the Qureysh fell on the Muslims from all sides. Abu Bakr (Radhiallaho anho) despite the fact that he was considered to be the noblest and most respectable of all the people in Mecca was beaten to such an extent that his nose and ears were badly mauled and his entire face was besmeared with blood. He was kicked with legs, thrashed with shoes, trampled, under feet and handled most roughly and savagely. He became unconscious and half-dead. None hoped that he would ever survive this brutal onslaught, banu-teem, the people of his clan came and carried him to his house. They also announced in haram that if Abu Baqr succumbed to the injuries they would take the life of Utbah-bin-Rabiah in retaliation, who had been taking the most active part in the attack. Abu Bakr (Radhiallaho anho) remained unconscious for the whole day. People round him shouted his name again and again to know if he was in senses but he would not speak. Late in the evening however he opened his eyes and showed signs of consciousness. However when he was able to speak he equired :

A short article on Islam and other religions

Islam Compared to other Religions

One thing gaining great popularity and importance in the present day religious world is the idea of homogeneity of religions. The essence of this idea is that all religions are true, all of them lead to God and all of them are equally successful in helping one to attain welfare and salvation in the after-life. The argument advanced in support of this idea is that whatever be the mode of prayer as long as one believes in God, its value and importance is the spirit and not the form. Therefore, the mode of worship one adopts is immaterial. All that really matters is the object of worship. What we have to take into account in worship is that in whose remembrance is the worshiper lost, whose manifestations is he eager to witness and whose pleasure is the craving to win. If the Hindu, the Muslims, the christian, the parse and the Buddhist worships God in their own way and their ultimate goal is none else but Allah, then however different their apparent modes of worship and ritual are, they would still be worshiping him only. All of them be seeking Allah in their worship and as such all of them would be on the right path.
this idea determines the status of all religions. So it dose of Islam  It holds Islam as a true religion but it does not regard Islam alone as the true one. It regards other religions as being equally truthful and upright. Is this position acceptable to Islam? It is a question which must be answered. It concerns the position of Islam and its answer will have far-reaching effect. This situation makes it clear that the proper knowledge of Islam would not be attained unless we know Islam;s own decision in regard to this concept. The need for this knowledge becomes all the more essenrail when we see that some persons contend that the purpose and history of prophet hood mentioned in the Quran do not go against this viewpoint. They maintain that to an extent the Quran endorses this concept. It admits that Allah raised prophet in every nation and all the prophets and their religions were sent by him. It even says that in their essence each of these religions was Islam. In these circumstances one should not deny that whichever religions is adopted and whoever prophet is followed, it will be worship of Allah and would be sufficient for salvation in the hereafter. Hence it is not necessary that everybody should obey the Quran

Ladies Devotion Fatimah (Radhiallaho anha)

Hazrat Fatimah Story
Hazrat Fatimah Devotion to Islam

The lap of the mother is admitted to be the best field of instruction. Mothers with the spirit of Iman are more likely to bring up children who can prove to be the true soldiers of Islam. Alas ! our children are brought up in surroundings that drift them away from Islam or at least make them indifferent to the duties they owe to ALLAH. The results are too sad to Imagine.

Fatimah's Tasbih :

Ali (Radhiallaha-anho) once said to one of his pupils :
"Shall I tell you the story of Fatimah (Radhiallaho anha) the dearest and the most loved daughter of the Prophet (PBUH) ?"
When the people replied in the affirmative he said :
"Fatimah (Radhiallaho anha) used to grind the grain herself which caused corns on her hands. She carried water for the house in a leather bag which caused scars on her breast. She cleaned the house herself which made her cloths dirty. Once some war-captives were brought to Madinah. I said to her, 'Go to the prophet and and request him for an assistant to help you in your home-work'. She went to him but found many people round him. As she was very modest, She could not be bold enough to request the Prophet (PBUH) in the presence of other people. Next day the Prophet (PBUH) came to our house and said, 'Fatimah! what made you come to me yesterday ?' She felt shay and kept quiet. I said, 'O, Prophet of ALLAH! Fatimah has developed corn scars on her hands and breast-on account of grinding and carrying water. She is constatly busy in cleaning the house and in other domestic jobs, causing her cloths to remain dirty. I informed her about the captives and advised her to go to you and request for a servant.' The Prophet(PBUH) said, 'Fatimah ! Fear ALLAH. Acquire Taqwa and keep doing your service to ALLAH and attending to your domestic jobs. When you go to bed recite Subhanallah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times and Allahoakbar 34 times. This you will find, more more helpful than an assistant'. Fatimah(Radhiallaho anha) remarked,' I am content with ALLAH and his Prophet (PBUH).

Children's Devotion to Islam

The Children - Their Devotion To Islam:

Islamic Stories
Children's Devotion to Islam

The high spirit of Islam which we find in the youth of Sahabah's time was the fruit of the schooling which the children of that age received at the hands of their parents. The parents of our time spoil the children by caressing and over-fondling them. If, instead, they inculcated in their hearts the importance of Islamic practices these could easily become their habits when they grew up. When we see a child doing something undesirable we simply brush it off by saying, 'He is but a child.' We have seen some parents even feeling happy over their darling (child) having sufficient grown up to do such things. We deceive ourselves when we say on seeing a child doing something un-Islamic :
"Oh, He will be all right when he grows up."
how can a bad seed grow up into a good plant. If you really like your child to be a good Muslim when he is grown up you have to sow the seed of Iman and Islam in his heart right from his childhood. Sahabah were very particular about training their children in Islamic practices and they kept a very watchful eye on their doings.
In Omar's time a person was arrested by the police for drinking in Ramadan. When he was brought before Omar(R.A) he said to him:
"Woe to you ! Even our children are keeping fast in this month."

Fear of ALLAH: The Prophet's Apprehensions at the time of Gale

Sahabah Fear for ALLAH
Fear of ALLAH

Coupled with the remarkable spirit of sacrifice the Sahabah had a genuine and deep-rooted fear of ALLAH in their hearts. I wish today's Muslim could have an iota of that fear of ALLAH. Here are few stories about this aspect of their lives.

The Prophet's Apprehensions at the time of Gale :

Aisha (Radiallaho anha) relates that whenever a strong wind bringing dense clouds started blowing, the Prophet's face turned pale with the fear of ALLAH, He became restive and would go in and out with commotion and would recite the following prayer,
"O, my ALLAH ! I ask Thee the good out of this wind, the good out of that which is in this wind and the good out of that which is the outcome of this wind. I seek refuge in Thee from the evil out of this wind. I seek refuge in Thee from the evil out of this wind, from the evil of that which is in this wind and from the evil out of that which is the outcome of this wind,"

She says :

When it began to rain, signs of delight appeared on his face. I said to him once, "O, Prophet of ALLAH, when clouds appear everybody is happy as they fore-tell rain, but why is it that I see you so much perturbed at that time?" He replied, "O, Aisha ! How can I feel secure that this wind does not portend ALLAH's wrath? The A'ad were punished with the wind, They were happy when they beheld the gathering dense clouds believing that they brought rain, but actually those clouds brought not rain but utter destruction to A'ad." The prophet( PBUH) was, obviously, referring to the following verses of Quran :

Major and Important Fundamental of Islam

Tawheed- Oneness of Almighty ALLAH :

Pillar of Islam
ISLAM a draft for all of us Fundamentals of Islam

Faith in the Unity of GOD is the most fundamental and the most basic teachings of the Holy prophet Mohammad (PBUH). This is expressed in the first Kalima (there is no deity but ALLAH). It is the route of all the teachings of Islam, Muslims are essentially required to offer five times formal prayer (salat) daily and in each prayer they repeatedly say before their GOD:
"Thee alone do we worship and Thee alone do we ask for help, And we did raise among every people a Messenger to preach to worship ALLAH ( GOD almighty alone ) and shun the evil one." ( AL-Nihal )

The meaning of the Kalima ( La ilaha illallah ) shall be very helpful in understanding the true impact of the ideology of Tawheed  that is oneness of GOD. Maulana Maudidi explains the Kalima as follows:
"In the Arabic language the world ilah means one who is worshiped, i.e., a being which on account of its greatness and power be considered worthy to be worshiped, to be bowed to in humility and submission. Anything or any being possessing power too great to be comprehended by man is also called ilah, the conception of ilah also includes the possession of infinite power, power that may astonish other. It also conveys the sense that others are dependent upon ilah and that he is not dependent upon any one else. The word ilah also carries a sense of concealment and mystery, that is, ilah would be a being unseen and impereceptible. The khuda in Persian, deva in hindi, and god in english bear, more or less similar meanings and significance. Other languages of the world
also contain words with a like sense.

Article on Earth's History

The history of the earth starts from about 4.5 to 5 billion years back, when it achieved a separate existence through accretion of solid material. Following information from the Quran appears to through some light on the origin of the earth.
"...and we sent down the iron in which is severe strength and other benefits for mankind." (Surah AL-KHADEED. 25)

Iron is said to have been sent down, which means that it came from regions beyond the earth. In this connection and following information taken from New Scientist Jan 13th 1990 and journal of Chemical Education, Sept 1990 deserves to be compared with the text of the above information taken from the Quran, revealed 1400 years back.

'The ultimate stellar ash is made up of iron. In iron, atomic nuclei are packed as tightly as possible. Iron is the heaviest element that gets made in a star by standard nuclear burning, It has the most stable nucleus. The energy required to synthesize iron is not available on eart. Therefore the iron found in the earth must have been synthesized in outer space'.

Information from Quran as well as Science indicates that the iron present in the earth, a major portion of which forms the core, was sent down from the outer space and that the origin of the earth was associated with a star, the sun. The Chief constituents of the globe separated into a solid core and a silicate mantle, probably when the earth was still in a molten condition due to initial high temperature. Later differentiation produced the complex outer crust on which we live

Rediscovering Epistemology of Islam

EPISTEMOLOGY :

Questions of life and their answers in the light of ISLAM
ISLAM a draft for all of us .

Epistemology,or theory of knowledge,is the central core of any word-view. it is the parameter which delineates what is and what is not possible within the purview of Islam, what is possible to know and ought to be known, what is possible to know but is better avoided, and what is simply not possible to know .Epistemology seeks to define knowledge, distinguish it principal varieties, identify its sources and establish its limits, what can we know and how do we know ?"are questions central to epistemology, but these are not merely philosophical questions. They have a strong bearing in concrete reality:the response to these questions has implications for every aspect of human activity.

Indeed, the Quranic concept of "Knowledge" commonly translated as "ILM" orignaly shaped the main features of muslim civilization and guided it towards its zenith. Then as it should be now, Knowledge shaped the muslim mode of thought and inquiry. It determines how muslim can best preceive reality and shape and develop a just society. Knowledge is the glue that binds the Muslim Society with its envoirement, Hence giving Islam a dynamic, living form However, while the scholors and intellectuals of the classical period recognized that Knowledge was concept on which rested the very foundations of the muslim civilisation, and that it was an all pervasive value, contemporary scholars, both modernists and traditionalists, are largely oblivious to the key role that epistemology plays in shaping a society.

Religion and Science

Science :

The universe we live in, consists of innumerable material objects, animate and inanimate, either in motion or relatively at rest and energies in the form of heat, light, electricity e.t.c., which have provided us with practically all material comforts. A glance at the sky, specially at night, gives us an idea of vastness of space and the forces that hold together all heavenly bodies. The alternation of day and night makes us feel the passage of time in the form of hours, days and years.

The universe does not exist in haphazard manner but is governed by regular laws right from an atom to the galaxies, With no liberty whatsoever, of anything going against any law. The rising and the setting of the sun, the regular changes in the area of brightness of the moon, the positions of stars at night, the movement of electrons in the atom, the laws of physics , chemistry, biology, geology e.t.c., the regularity in the sequence of birth, growth, decay and death in plants and animals, provide a conclusive proof of the existence of predestined and unchangeable laws of nature, confirmed by the Quran in the following terms :
"And whoever is in the skies and the earth bows down to ALLAH only, willingly or unwillingly."(Surah AL-RAADAH. 15)
The known universe thus appears to be a complex combination of matter, energy, space, time and life. Matter and energy interact in space giving rise to motion and each each such movement of matter or an event covers a period of time. These basic entities which are mutually related and governed by laws of nature from the theme of science. Scientists seek to understand nature and reduce this understanding of theirs in the form of laws. In this effort of inquiry, observation, experimentation and inference, tremendous knowledge on various aspects of nature has been accumulated. Science is nothing but this accumulated knowledge of nature arranged systematically.
